Breaking Point's New Methods and Programs for 2010

Posted by Jeff | Monday, November 30, 2009

This year, as part of the regular activities of Breaking Point Foundation to help prevent substance abuse, particularly drug addiction, among high school students, our organization conducted programs in Palawan Natioal High School in Puerto Princesa, Palawan, Gen. Pio del Pilar National High School in Makati City and Manggahan High School in Pasig City. These programs were in partnership with Manna Worldwide, Sumulong Baptist Church, Sumulong Baptist Church – Makati and other organizations in the US who share the same philosophy as our organization. The goal has always been to address the root of the problem of teenage drug abuse.

This coming year, Breaking Point Foundation hopes to expand its methods of preventing drug abuse buy providing statistics and educational materials with the help and information from DrugFreeWorld.org. We hope that this partnership will help us develop new methodologies and programs that we can offer in schools.

Part of substance abuse is alcohol abuse, drug addiction and even the abuse of unprohibited substances such as pain relievers. One example of a pain reliever that can be easily abused is Tramadol. Since a lot of people can buy tramadol cheap, it is easily accessed. Those who are experiencing lots of physical pain sometimes turn to tramadol capsules for relief. There is nothing wrong with this of course but when they try to get this drug without prescription and become very dependent on it, then that is already a manifestation abusive behavior towards this pain reliever. To know and learn more about the proper use of Tramadol you can search for tramadol medication bluebook in search engines.

Our organization hopes to help people learn about particular drugs and show statistics and real life experiences of former drug addicts to students next year. With this as part of agenda, we also hope to reach more even as we try to go to places we have never been before.

To Africa in 2010

Posted by Jeff | Wednesday, November 18, 2009

This week, when I went to the bank to make a deposit, I bumped into my boss. He is leaving for the US in a few weeks and has been very busy that we do not get to talk a lot. While standing in line, we were able to talk for a few moments and he mentioned about a trip to Africa next year, around May or June. I will need to raise about $2,500 for the trip and was glad to hear that a group has already committed to provide $1,000.

The trip to Kenya and Tanzania will be a Breaking Point Missions Trip and we will be working with a former colleague who is now based in Kenya. My boss mentioned about a Safari trip and I’m excited to be able to see the wild on a 4x4, or hopefully on a toyota fj cruiser. Cars like the bentley continental gt and the lexus would not be well appreciated in that kind of a trip, because of the terrain.

But, anyway, I am excited about the trip. It is a great experience but I am most excited to meet the people in Africa. I will start praying for that trip and that God would use our team to minister to the people in Kenya and Tanzania.

Buying AC Parts

Posted by Jeff | Saturday, October 31, 2009

In the recent typhoon, many car owners had their cars repaired. Some paid dearly for their car's computer box while others had to flush dirt and water form the engine. After this, they had to get the electrical system working including the air conditioning system.

For those who are looking for parts like the toyota ac compressor, there are sites online that can provide such a thing. Visit DiscountACParts.com and find out how easy it is to browse for parts you need.

Visit our Main SIte

This is an auxiliary site of Breaking Point Foundation Philippines. Our main site is abusepreventionteam.org. Please feel free to visit this site for more information and background on our organization.

Problems that we face can be viewed either positively or negatively. Other see fights between a husband a wife as a problem but it can also be viewed like a house alarm which helps identify a deeper problem that needs resolution.

Many young people are deeply affected by the relationship of their parents and it is actually the parents responsibility to talk to their children, especially the teenagers about what’s going on without necessarily including details. The teens should be oriented that fights are normal and serve as part of a home alarm system that warns them of something that needs to be dealt with.

Resolution is always hoped for, of course, but even when there is no resolution to the issue, what needs to be remembered is that the relationship is more important than the resolution. Sometimes we must agree to disagree on some matters, especially trivial stuff. Having some consideration on these things can help couples do away with petty quarrels which, a lot of times, can be viewed by teenagers as immaturity on the part of their parents.

Having this kind of view on conflicts can change the way we approach them but also our perspective into a better one.

Palawan Missions Trip 2009 Prayer Requests

Posted by Jeff | Saturday, July 18, 2009

A week from today, I will be experiencing one of the busiest weeks of my year. As a missions team from Sagemont Church in Houston, Texas composed of at least 27 individuals arrives on Tuesday, there are a series of evangelistic events lined up starting on Wednesday afternoon until the 29th of this month.

On the 22nd, we will be conducting a basketball mini-league and we are targeting to come up with four teams, one of which is a team of college students from Houston, and gather a big audience and get the opportunity to share the gospel in the event.

On the 24th, the missions team, in partnership with Breaking Point Foundation and different churches networked with our mother church Sumulong Baptist Church, will be conducting two Breaking Point programs, one in the morning at Manggahan High School and one right after lunch at Santolan High School, both in Pasig City. In these events, students will have the opportunity to watch and hear a clear presentation of the gospel and respond to it.

On the 26th, the team, together with twelve local volunteers (including me and my wife), will be flying to Puerto Princesa, Palawan for a scheduled two-day Breaking Point programs at Palawan National High School which has at least 6,000 students.

Here are some prayer requests as we conduct these events:

1. Pray that we would continue to find favor in the eyes of the school administrators we are dealing with and that we will be one in our purpose - to keep the students away from drug or substance abuse by introducing them to a right relationship with God.

2. Pray that the spiritual blindness of those who will hear the gospel would be removed and that they would clearly understand the need for God in their lives.

3. Pray for strength for all participants in this week-long evangelistic campaign.

4. Pray also for traveling mercies.

Thanks in advance to all those who will be praying for us and these requests.

Personalized Halloween Invitations are still the best choice even in the this online era where the use of electronic Greeting Cards, Announcements or Halloween Party Invitations have become popularly used. The popular but sometimes impersonal methods of the present culture is still not competitive enough to the Invitations we used in the past.

Electric Gun and Electric Airsoft Guns

Are you considering getting involved in a new hobby that involves shooting at other people but in a controlled environment with bullets that won't cause life-threatening injuries? If so you might be trying to decide between a couple of options. You could consider becoming interested in electric airsoft guns, for example, or you could think about an activity like paintball or lasertag that have similar elements. While the choice you make will depend on your overall preference, there are some real advantages to choosing the electric gun option.

Cheap Electric Airsoft Guns
Cheap Airsoft Electric Guns

Electronic Gun Choices

A big reason why Airsoft is so incredibly popular around the world is the variety of electronic guns you can select for playing. Nearly any type of gun is going to be available, including AK47s and sniper rifles that are some of the best sellers. Most of the guns on the market are replicas of authentic guns from the past or present that adds to the realism of play. With paintball and laser tag, you're not going to see that type of realism. For one, real guns don't shoot paint or lasers. Of course, there are some choices when it comes to paintball guns. However, you won't find any options with laser tag equipment that is usually not purchased but rented from the establishment or included in the fees.

Examining the Electric Airsoft Gun Options

There are some key differences among all three of these options that you need to understand before we look at those advantages. First, if you're going to be playing Airsoft then you'll be using a type of gun that shoots BBs. During the match, you'll be firing at team members based on a pre-defined scenario. This is very similar to paintball with the exception of the ammo. Airsoft ammo does not normally contain paint. Laser tag is actually very different in terms of equipment - gun only shoots lasers - but is quite similar in terms of overall play dynamics.

While price may not be the primary factor in the decision you make, it will probably play an important role. Using an electronic gun is going to be more cost-effective in the long run. Not only do many of the weapons cost less than the paintball varieties but their ammunition is also quite a bit less costly. The cost of about 100 rounds of paintball ammo costs approximately the same as about 1,000 rounds for the average Airsoft gun. With laser tag, you won't buy any equipment normally and you won't need ammo, but you'll have to pay rental costs every time you play and that could add up if you're regulars. The purchase of either an airsoft electric guns or a paintball gun is going to be a smarter investment long run.

Conclusion – Electric AirSoft Guns

Clearly, there are many good reasons to choose an airsoft electric guns over your other options. But when you make that final choice it's going to be based on which of these activities you enjoy the most. Based on what most people who have experienced an Airsoft match have said, that's going to give it a clear advantage over the competition.

Landscaping and Service

Posted by Jeff | Friday, June 12, 2009

When a piece of land is available for any organization for its use, plans and designs for a structure in that land are drawn up and the best design for the organization’s purpose is selected. Usually, the first thing worked on is the ground breaking. If the structure is big, usually it also requires a bigger ad deeper excavation than what is usually done for a two-storey house. When this is done, usually the grounds are totally destroyed which makes it look as if it is impossible to beautify the place.

But, thanks to landscaping companies like Dallas Landscaping, this is not impossible. In fact, contractors usually are able to do what is required in the design no matter how difficult it is. This company in Dallas provides quality service and good return for one’s money. They are able to execute and implement the plans and designs given to them right down to the smallest details.

And any individual or organization would want that for a contractor or a landscaping company. The proper implementation of plans and designs is very important for any group or individual. That is why this landscaping company in Dallas make that their priority as they serve their customers.

Vehicles for Transporting Volunteers and Equipment

Posted by Jeff | Thursday, June 11, 2009

One of the things that Breaking Point Foundation would need in the future is a service to transport equipment and volunteers. But we do hope that funds would become enough to support its other staff with their own personal service or ride. It doesn’t necessarily have to be new but second hand cars can be used with certain upgrades. Like a Beetle can have a Volkswagen turbo although, honestly it is not a priority. Although that would surely be enjoyable for the staff of Breaking Point. For now, donors of vehicles are welcome for use during special programs in different high schools.

Personal Development Seminar at Charis

Posted by Jeff | Wednesday, June 10, 2009

On June 13, 2009 our organization will be conducting another seminar at a high school, but this time the seminars will be called Personal Development Seminars for parents and students of a private school in Marikina, Charis School.

This is part of the school's orientation for the students and the parents. The topics are Attitude and Obedience for students and Avoiding Financial Tension and Building Strong Families for parents.

A Maturing Organization

Posted by Jeff | Tuesday, June 02, 2009

When our organization sets up its own office in the future, we will be needing local companies similar to Chicago Remodeling companies. We will need to present them our requirements for the use of the spaces and they will give us proposals on how we can maximize the space we will rent.

We will be needing space to conduct martial arts training for the youth who will be sent by the different youth organizations accredited by Breaking Point Foundation. That means, these organizations want to make use of Breaking Point’s programs in their area. Our organization will provide the training and promotion in the high schools in their area. With those in mind, we will also need some office space for administration and additional storage space for our equipment, sound system and a garage for a truck or a van.

Right now, we need to keep on establishing the credentials and experience of our organization and then eventually learn how to raise funds locally so we will not have to be dependent on support from the US. We hope to get to this point of maturity in our operations in the next few years. Please keep Breaking Point Foundation in your prayers.

Make an Informed Decision

Posted by Jeff | Tuesday, June 02, 2009

When making decisions it is best to always be informed. It is wise to learn about the different sides or points of views before making a decision. This is more important when it is a major decision that is going to be made. Whether it’s about studies or finances or relationships, you should follow this simple principle. Like in getting a loan from a bank, for example. You must get a certificate of deposit rates so you can know what you are dealing with. Don’t just decide to quickly.

A Miami Roofing Company

Posted by Jeff | Saturday, May 30, 2009

If you are looking for a Miami Roofer then you are fortunate to have stumbled upon this blog entry. There are actually many sites that tell you about their roofing services in Miami but most of them that you find online cannot really deliver. They promise certain things but do not keep their end of the bargain. Or, when they do, they leave their clients unsatisfied.

MiamiRoofer.biz is not that kind of a site. They are one of the best in Miami, if not the best. Their company’s name is Per-Max Roofing and they are a company that is focused on customer service and giving clients high quality work.

Aside from that, their products are affordable. So, that means you do not have to shell out so much cash just to get the service that you as the customer deserve. This company is accredited by the Better Business Bureau and that is a strong credential that can back up their claims of good service and quality performance.

So if you are in search of a company with these qualities, then you should visit the site of Pre-Max Roofing and try them. They may just be the roofing company in Miami you are looking for.

Different Options for Your Car

Posted by Jeff | Friday, May 29, 2009

As previously mentioned in one of the posts, for those with cars, different options are available for your car. You can donate them to charitable institutions or advocacy groups like our organization, Breaking Point Foundation, or the other option is to sell them and donate a part of the proceeds.

For others, getting a loan on their car is their option. They contact companies that are able to provide Car Title Loans for their car with low interest. There are companies in different parts of the US that offer this service. There are Car Title Loans Hayward companies and there is also a Car Title Loans Sacramento company.

What is important in choosing a good loan company is the kind of service they provide and finding out if they can provide the lowest interest for the loan you can get from your car. The good and quality service is important. This can prevent you from feeling like the company you are talking to is just out to make money on you. The good service will make you feel that they are doing their job and are liking out for your own interest, not just theirs. So be very careful and picky when you search for a loan company for your car. Research can do you a lot good.

A New Car Review Experience

Posted by Jeff | Friday, May 29, 2009

Are you tired of reading about cars and just simply looking at pictures of cars and never really getting a real look at how it performs? Or maybe reading about cars and looking at their beautiful pictures have just become so boring.

You should try visiting this new car video site. It is a web site that shows you videos about cars like BMW videos and videos of other car brands. Like, for example, you want to learn or know about the new 2009 Honda Insight, you can check out their Honda videos to see in action, not just read about it, the performance of the car, its design and its interior and user experience.

This web site can most probably knock car magazines out of business because ti provides a very interactive and more personalized review of cars. Watching videos like the Jaguar videos they have makes one feel like they are in the car and makes the review so close to the real thing that it’s like the one inquiring is right there inside the car.

Aside from the things mentioned above, this site makes videos available by brands, and one can also view videos about auto shows.

On June 13, 2009, Breaking Point Foundation will be partnering with Charis School in Marikina City to conduct a Personal Development Seminar for their high school students and their parents. This was scheduled together with the parent's and student's orientation.

For other schools interested about this program, feel free to email our organization at breakingpoint@abusepreventionteam.org

Breaking Point Foundation is a not-for-profit organization and survives through the regular gifts and donations of its supporters and those who give on a per project basis. There are other organizations that support us not just financially but also by making their volunteers available to us. There are others who support Breaking Point by allowing us free use of their facilities. There are even individuals who support us through car donation or by lending us their car during special events where we need to transport volunteers.

Foundations or non-profit organizations usually operate this way. Many organizations even have major campaigns for fund raising. The money raised in these campaigns are all used for operations and eventually towards accomplishing the organization’s charitable mission.

There are many non-profit organizations like us. One of them is DonateACar2Charity.com. Supporting organizations like Breaking Point Foundation or DonateACar2Charity is one way of expressing support for charitable organizations. Through vehicle donations, these organizations are able to raise funds that they could use for overhead expenses like for employees salaries and for special mission projects and for funding of regular programs.

Giving to or supporting charitable organizations can also benefit a company or an individual because they can get a tax deduction. Once they have filled out the necessary documents and have cleared their car for donation, DonateACar2Charity can provide free towing with absolutely no cost to the donors. The donated car is then evaluated to help donors determine their options and provide them with the best possible tax deduction, thus, helping them maximize their tax deduction.

Best of all, donors leave a legacy that will outlast them. This is what’s most fulfilling in getting involved with support of non-profit organizations. So, if you are interested in supporting and your heart has been touched, click the necessary links in this page and donate car there.

Low Self-Esteem and Abuse

Posted by Jeff | Thursday, May 28, 2009

Among the root causes of the problems of young people regarding drug or substance abuse is having low self-esteem. According to Wikipedia, self-esteem reflects a person’s overall evaluation or appraisal of his or her own worth. When a young person displays an unstable, low self-esteem which can be caused by a lot of things, it can lead to that person being easily influenced or dragged into drugs, especially when he or she is easily accepted by a group that uses such substances.

Having low esteem can erode one’s pride and self confidence especially when a constant wave of depression hits a person. It can be likened to a house that is slowly being eaten by pests or termites. Without any outside help, like the Atlanta Pest Control or the like, it can be really difficult to cope alone.

The help and support of family, friends and other loved ones can greatly benefit someone with low self-esteem. A seminar that we conduct which talks about the Five Love Languages or five ways that we can communicate love, can be very useful for parents with teens that are suffering with low self-esteem. For inquiries, feel free to leave a comment so we can contact you or email us at breakingpoint@abusepreventiontem.org

Breaking Point and Its Desire to Reach More

Posted by Jeff | Wednesday, May 27, 2009

Part of the future plans of Breaking Point Foundation is to become an organization that accredits other youth organizations that share its philosophy and beliefs. It hopes to be a center of training and empowerment for volunteers from different youth organizations.

For us to achieve that, I realize that we need to start getting permanent people on board our team who will specialize in different areas of our program. We will need black belts to train others who will be part of our martial arts routine. We will also need people experienced with drama to handle our dramas. Of course, we will be needing the help of past volunteers who are very experienced with the workshops we teach and facilitate.

As these people are included in the team, they will need their own office equipment like outdoor couches
, office table and a comfortable chair, and a computer work station. And it is obvious that things like bathroom vanities or bedroom furniture won’t be necessary. We will try our best to provide their office needs but of course the budget may be limited at the beginning. We are ready to face this challenge and possibility and we hope for the best for the organization.

Additional Benefits for Employees

Posted by Jeff | Wednesday, May 27, 2009

When I started out as a volunteer at Breaking Point Foundation, I didn’t receive any financial compensation, of course. But after two years of volunteering, assisting in training of new volunteers and eventually leading the local team of volunteers, I was offered the job to start up the office of Breaking Point International here in the Philippines.

When I was hired officially in January of 2001, I received a good starting pay for a single person during that time. When I was given additional responsibilities, I started receiving other benefits such as a healthcare plan which covers hospitalization in a semi-private room. It wasn’t like that of kaiser permanente of course. But it was enough for me.

This online insurance company has different areas covered in the USA. They have a kaiser permanente Colorado office. This state is one of the few places where our volunteers have come from. Another office they have is kaiser permanente California .

Wherever you are located, this company can give you what you want. Whether it is individual and family coverage or a group or business coverage, you can easily find it. So, for companies like ours who need to start providing additional benefits to their employees, try this company.

Business Opportunities in High Schools

Posted by Jeff | Wednesday, May 27, 2009

In high schools that Breaking Point Foundation has gone to, I have observed the absence of Vending Machines or the lack of it. In the cities in Metro Manila, public high schools can range from 1,800 students per campus to 8,000 students. With this number, it can be difficult to provide a facility, like a canteen, to hold the students and service all their needs.

But having additional facilities, in my opinion, like a drinking fountain, a Vending Machine and some food carts can help serve the needs of these students. This can also open opportunities to teachers who can venture into the Vending Machine Business or food cart business.

They just need to learn about the types of Vending Machines and other information that can help them start their Vending Machine Business right. They should also be aware of the impact of having another business, aside from their responsibilities in their teaching profession, can have. By knowing and anticipating this, they can make adjustments without really taking their other responsibilities for granted.

But, all this, of course must be under the approval of the school administrators and the school division superintendent. This is necessary so that there will be no stepping over of responsibilities and no conflict of interest happens.

This past few days have been very hectic as our organization conducted Pre-enrollment seminars from May 20-22 and today, May 26, 2009 at Gen. Pio del Pilar National High School in Makati. The seminars were for students who had academic and behavioral problems last year and those transferring from another school. The topics that were discussed were about obedience and attitude. The parents of these students also went through the seminar but the topics for the parents were different. They were about finances and relationships.

The pre-enrollment seminar is one of the new prgrams being offered by Breaking Point Foundation and so far, two schools have availed of this program this year and another school, a private school in Marikina City, is inquiring about it.

Electrician Needed this Next Few Weeks

Posted by Jeff | Monday, May 18, 2009

Does anyone know any electrician or companies like Madison Electrician but based here in the Philippines? One of Breaking Point Foundation’s sponsor, Sumulong Baptist Church – Makati (www.sbcmakati.org), in the next few weeks will be having some of its electrical plugs and lighting for their church sign fixed.

The electric plugs are for the stage equipment like the guitar amplifiers, guitar effects and fans. There used to be multiple plugs at the SBC Makati’s stage area but they suffered from natural wear and tear through regular use. They also need to be replaced to accommodate more plugs and doing this might require an upgrade of the circuit breaker of its connection.

For SBC Makati’s church sign, well, there used to be a connection already. That was for the previous lighted sign. But the church is not familiar with its connection and switch so they are considering just having it redone and a new one be installed for the new sign. With the larger surface area of 18 feet by 5 feet, they would need more lighting to make it visible at night. This new sign that they had installed is sort of a billboard but quite smaller than the regular one.

Right now, plans for the July missions trip to Puerto Princesa, Palawan are already drawn up. The schedule of the trip is set on July 26, which is a Sunday, to the 29th or the 30th of the same month which is either Wednesday or Thursday.

During last year’s trip, we had the same schedule but went into at least for campuses. This year, we will be going to just one school (one of the high schools we went to last year). This school has a big population and we are looking into doing two or three programs per day for two days for us to show the program to all the students in the school.

In our visit last year, one thing we noticed is that the school does not have a facility where multiple classes can be gathered together to watch a large group presentation. The school may need some additional structures for this type of activity and may need to avail the services of companies like Wichita Remodeling, but locally based. If that happens in the next few months then we can reduce the number of programs we will need to present at the high school in Palawan. If not, then we will be ready.

Saving Funds for Activities

Posted by Jeff | Monday, May 18, 2009

Our office which is located at 3/F 9642 Kalayaan Avenue, Guadalupe Nuevo, Makati City is really the office of SBC Makati. We share this space with them, or more accurately , SBC Makati allows us to use their facilities for our organization’s needs. They are not the only organization that allows us to use facilities, in fact, other organizations in Antipolo, Pasig and Quezon City allow us to use their facilities too and even send volunteers to our programs.

Anyway, about the office in Makati, during the rainy days of summer, we have been experiencing the leaks in the roof. We have talked to the building administrator and have aired our concerns and we are glad that they have promised to take care of the leaks. That is good news because we won’t have to hire roofing companies like Harrisburg Roofer. That will save our organization from the cost of the expenses for the work that needs to be done on the roof of the building.

Lately, we have been thinking of ways to cut cost as a lot of the funds need to be allotted for activities like the two pre-enrollment seminars in the two high schools in Makati (Pitogo High School and Gen. Pio del Pilar National High School).

A Vision for our Organization

Posted by Jeff | Saturday, May 16, 2009

Just recently a sign was put up outside the current office of Breaking Point Foundation. Our organization’s logo was not placed their because it was the sign for the ministry that supports our organization and allows us to use their office facilities.

Breaking Point Foundation is set up in such a way that it is technically independent from other organizations that support it. But it operates in such a way that most of its participants are volunteers from other organizations that support its mission, vision and philosophy.

Eventually, when funds become available, our organization will have its own sign installed on its own office and facility. At least, that is the vision of the organization – to have its own office facility, and un its own office and support its own administrators. We hope that funds will eventually become available to be used for hiring companies like Chicago Electrician to install the lights on its sign, for supporting regular staff like a martial arts team that can reproduce itself by training other martial artists, for feeding its volunteers during programs and funding other mission trips and initial preparatory trips. We believe that nothing is impossible especially with the noble endeavor that we have, people will eventually buy into what our organization does and support it.

How nice it could be for our organization when we would b able to provide coverage of our school programs and allow supporters and other volunteers to view them through a Direct tv connection. That would be truly cool.

The technology of having a direct tv connection is already available. The other options for coverage is through online streaming but this kind of connection is just limited to internet users. For TV users however, a directtv connection is the one for them.

This would provide more access for potential or existing supporters to the programs we conduct. This may seem a little too far fetched, but who knows? Maybe a few years from now that would be just a norm.

Tomorrow is our first Pre-emrollment Seminar at Pitogo High School. The seminar was proposed upon request of the Supreme Student Government of the said high school in coordination with their guidance counseling office and retention program adviser.

The program will deal with topics lik Attitude and Authority/ Morality for the students and Avoiding Financial Tension and Building Strong Families for parents. The expected number of participants is more thatn 400 (parents and students). Out group is excited to conduct its first pre-enrollment seminar at Pigo High School and are hoping for the success of this event.

Plumbing Projects for our Facility

Posted by Jeff | Friday, May 15, 2009

At the current office of Breaking Point Foundation Philippines, which is where SC Makati and JIVE Youth Center and Manna Feeding Center Guadalupe are housed, there are some plumbing issues that we need to work on.

The faucet in the kitchen sink that we use for the church and our feeding program from Tuesday to Friday needs to be replaced. It has been leaking for a while now and we have made some attempts to fix it but to no avail.

The same thing happened with the piping connections in our men’s restroom. The faucet in the sink of the restroom for males is not working because of the piping system underneath the sink. This is another project we need to work on soon. We also need to buy a sink for the ladies restroom.

In our church, we don’t have a professional plumber or at least someone who knows how to fix these things. E have considered hiring locally based plumbing companies like Lubbock Plumber but we are still working on budgeting for these projects.

We hope that in the next few weeks, after paying off rent and electricity, we will be able to work on these repairs and parts replacements.

Being Resonsible Stewards of God's Resources

Posted by Jeff | Friday, May 15, 2009

Recently, our church’s giving has increased which is really a great blessing because it has allowed us to upgrade our facilities. Some of the major projects our church has gone into are, first, the purchase of a video projector.

Early this year, we were able to purchase our new video projector which is the Acer X1160Z. It boasts of 2,000 ANSI Lumens and produces a very clear projection. This has greatly upgraded how we did things at church this past few months. We have even tried doing a film showing and we saw the movie Fireproof as a Valentine event.

Secondly, earlier last year or the other year, one of the young professionals at church purchased a set of cymbals for our drum set and this has also drastically changed for good our music ministry.

With these investments, we have increased security in our church and members of our youth and adult ministries have worked together to police in the facility. We just need to get some of the locks in the church upgraded. We can probably hire companies like San Francisco Locksmith or at least a local version of it so we can make sure that all the investments we have made are properly secured and we act as responsible stewards of these resources God has given us.

JIVE and a Vision of the Future

Posted by Jeff | Friday, May 15, 2009

When JIVE Youth Ministry, in the future, finally will have to purchase its own property for a youth center, it will need to hire a contractor to build it like Jersey City Concrete which is contractor at Jersey City. The youth ministry really hopes that its young people who turn into professional will carry on this endeavor by having a vision about the youth ministry facility.

Most of JIVE Youth Ministry’s target audience at present is the high school students which the organization believes to be a very strategic age group as many individuals make their major decisions during this stage of life.

JIVE is happy to see some of its youth run into professionals. This past few months, one just passed the Civil Engineering board exam. We also have another youth member who is taking up Architecture and we hope that young people like them would be the ones to take on the plans for JIVE Youth Ministry’s property plans and design.

This is the vision of JIVE and SBC Makati. To see the youth of Makati make life changing decisions for Christ and to eventually mobilize them using their gifts, abilities and talents to build up the present ministry.

Prevent Car Failure During Important Events

Posted by Jeff | Wednesday, May 13, 2009

Summer in the Philippines is not the best time to have your car air conditioning system fail. One, the heat is too much and, number two, the humidity makes it work. Especially when you are on your way to a meeting or a Breaking Point program and you have many volunteers with you inside one vehicle. That is bad, really.

That’s why it’s real important to maintain your vehicle properly. For air con and other auto parts like a diesel fuel pump, oil seals, etc., you can visit DieselPartsPros.com. This is a web site to view for parts for vehicles that have a diesel engine.

One of the things that we tell people who struggle with bad habits, whether involving substance abuse or not, is that keeping themselves busy doing something for other people can help them fight the temptation of repeating the activity or habit.

But this does not mean that they have to wear themselves down with their work or whatever activity they are involved in. They must also take time to enjoy their break. It does not have to be an expensive vacation since there are now many sources of Cheap Holidays available on the internet. Sometimes, a break is effective to break patterns especially in a bad habit.

This coming July, Breaking Point Foundation Philippines will be having another missions trip to Puerto Princesa, Palawan. The volunteers we have had in the past international missions trips were from different places. There have been volunteers who have come from Tulsa, Oklahoma, who left their Tulsa Roofing job for a week and joined our missions trip, from Kansas City, Missouri, Canada and many other places.

In this July’s missions trip to Palawan, volunteers will be coming from Houston, Texas and from two areas in the Philippines. There will be a team to be trained from the hosting group (Puerto Princesa) and another team which will be the program team from Manila, or more specifically, Antipolo City, Rizal.

It has been said also that in this year’s mission trip to Puerto Princesa, Palawan, the volunteers from the US will be mostly college students. Our organization is excited and is hoping to get their participation in the large group and class room presentations of Breaking Point, especially in the dramas and the role playing and teaching of effective refusal skills. This is about two months from now and volunteers are in the process of raising funds for the trip and planning and preparing for the other details of the missions trip.

An Abilene HVAC Contractor

Posted by Jeff | Friday, May 08, 2009

Whether it is comfort cooling or heating during the winter, Gideon Heating and AC is the Abilene HVAC Contractor to contact. When choosing a contractor, it is very important to find a contractor who is not based so far away from your location.

If you are within the area of Abilene, Texas, a contractor that is suggested when it comes to Heating, Ventilating and Air Conditioning is Gideon Heating and AC. They specialize in your climate control needs. They are very competent when it comes to Air Conditioning systems, heating, vents, its repair, maintenance and installation.

They provide service even after the installation so if time comes when something goes wrong with your HVAC system then they are there to work at it for you.

Reliable Service Team

Posted by Jeff | Wednesday, May 06, 2009

We are often told that to spot a fake is to get to know the genuine. This is so true. With tons of advertising media enticing people to patronize their product or services, but the truth is only a few of them deliver.

The fact remains that from amongst that are advertised on paper and via the internet, a large percentage are phony ones. This is when recommendations weigh more. In fact more than believing print ads, we are more apt to take into consideration personal recommendations from people that we know.

If you happen to look for reliable Atlanta Locksmiths, you might want to check out AtlantaLocks.org and you will read for yourself the very testimonials of those people who have benefited from their quality service. Full lock service for your residence or office, even your cars. The team behind this company is on call 24/7. It is also a plus that they do not charge unreasonably, in fact you really get your money’s worth. It is not even a surprise why realtors themselves are recommending them to their buyers and homeowners.

It is one thing to get things done, it is another to get things done the right way.

SSG Advisers and faculty from the five high schools who participated in the 2009 summer youth camp

Delegates from the high schools in Makati

A total of 5 high schools from Makati participated in this year’s summer youth camp which was co-organized by Breaking Point Foundation. A letter of invitation was sent to the office of the Division of City Schools of Makati prior to the event and was approved by the Division Superintendent. However, not all the nine high schools of Makati were able to send delegates as the communication was sent and released quite near the end of the classes and other high schools have already made plans for summer activities.

The five high schools that sent delegates were Gen. Pio del Pilar National High School, Pitogo high School, Bangkal High School, San Isidro National High School and San Antonio National High School. Below are photos of the delegates and faculty members who participated in the summer youth camp.

Practical Tips to Help the Environment

Posted by Jeff | Wednesday, May 06, 2009

Aside from substance and violence prevention, we also encourage people we come across with to take part in doing their share in helping the environment. Practical tips can really go a long way, if we come to think about it. Global warming is at its peak and we all feel the wrath of the environment because of the many years of abuse by its inhabitants –us.

Practical tips start with making sure to change all light bulbs in the house with energy saving ones. We can easily conclude that 20% of electricity bill of every household comes from lighting facilities. We all know how traditional bulbs’ energy is wasted because it turns to heat while energy saving ones work light fluorescent lamps. These kinds of lamps might be a little pricier than the regular bulbs but it will prove to be the more practical buy because it lasts longer than the regular one. This alone will cut electricity cost and will save you money.

Unplug electrical appliances when not in use. Very often we just allow the to stay plugged out of convenience for later use. But fact is, appliances eats up electricity even when on standby. Wirings should also be checked by a qualified electrician, like a Denver Electrician.

Among the best specialists is Dr. Brian West, a plastic surgeon who is committed to helping other people feel good about their looks and generally about themselves. Dr. Brian West Plastic Surgeon is holding at least five different offices in Southern California and is well experienced and well trained in the area of plastic surgery.

To read more about who this honored plastic surgeon is you can click the Dr. Brian West Plastic Surgeon Links in his web site and find other pages to read about him. He will not only make you feel good but he can give you a good morale boost or a positive push for your self esteem. Visit his site.

Assistance and Prevention Provided

Posted by Jeff | Friday, May 01, 2009

Having some things needed to be repaired at home can be a real big hassle to homeowners. For plumbing related problems they have to know a plumber who can handle the job. I have personally dealt with this kind of problem at home and appreciate the help of someone who can do the job.

Aside from problems with pipes, drainiage, etc. those with electrical problems at home, a good electrician is what is needed. For those residing in the area of Virginia Beach, you can contact Virginia Beach Electricians at ViriginiaBeachElectrician.org. This is a web site that can provide you with competent electricians at the right price. Sometimes, it is hard to find the right electrician to do the job. But with the help of the web site that was just mentioned, this problem can also be minimized.

A competent electrician can also help you in minimizing the chances of having an electrical fire. Since they have a very good idea of how to handle problems at home related to this, they can easily provide the solution. Isn’t that a great comfort to homeowners? I, as a homeowner, appreciate this kind of assistance and prevention that is available in the internet.

We put great effort and value to preventing crimes. Many people invest in home security gadgets to protect their families from thievery and unlawful entry. In the same way, we must put so much importance to preventing substance and violence abuse among members of our family or among students in our school campuses.

Breaking Point Foundation can help in this area as it has a unique violence and substance abuse prevention program that gives a positive approach to issues like peer pressure, attitude, self esteem and responsible relationships.

To check out Breaking Point’s programs and other information, you can visit abusepreventionteam.org, it's official web site.

This week , I have received word that another missions trip to Palawan is being cooked up and a team from Manila and from different parts of the US will be coming to the trip. I am not sure where the volunteers from the US will come from, they could be Wilmington NC Real Estate dwellers and maybe even supporters of ColumbusHumaneSociety.org or maybe just from Houston, Texas.

Tentatively, Breaking Point’s second missions trip to Puerto Princesa, Palawan is scheduled on the last week of July. Right now, coordination with the team that is based in Palawan is being made and training the volunteers from the US and from Palawan will be started soon.

Breaking Point Foundation, in cooperation with the leadership of Camp Kabataan and other youth organizations had another successful summer youth camp. The summer youth camp which used the theme of “Call of Duty: World at War” Ephesians 6:10-20, was held at Mt. Peniel, Capas, Tarlac. It was attended by 763 participants and counselors from different areas of Metro Manila (Novaliches, Quezon City, Pasig City, Makati City, Marikina City, Manila and Rizal.

The recent summer youth camp is the 5th summer event organized in cooperation with Camp Kabataan. In the past, Breaking Point has been involved in camps with other organizations and this year was their 9th year of organizing summer youth camps focused on teaching youth moral values, leadership and addressing important issues that the youth of today face.

Extreme Weather Conditions and HVAC

Posted by Jeff | Friday, April 24, 2009

It is a relief to have a nicer these past days. The weather from this side of the world was crazy hot in the previous weeks, the rains that came really helped a lot for us to have a kinder weather. The weather was so crazy that our huge air conditioning units at church were not able to handle the heat the previous month. We are really hoping that the weather will not go back to the same extreme.

For heating, ventilating and air conditioning concerns, you should look into the services of Moreno Valley HVAC. With the worldwide occurrence of global warming, people are subjected to endure serious extreme weather conditions in whatever part of the world they are. It is really valuable to get a reliable contractor to maintain your hvac facility.

Summers are extra hot and winters are extreme cold. The crazy thing about is because of global warming, weather has been very unpredictable. This is where you a reputable maintaining agency to take care of your units can come in handy. You will never know how crazy weather can get. Climate control is very important especially for building. Huge ones can be a real challenge, so a reliable hvac service should only be the only option.

Resolving Minor Issues with the Youth

Posted by Jeff | Friday, April 24, 2009

We at Breaking Point consider ourselves partners of parents in introducing to their children an alternative, healthy way of living. A lifestyle that is more constructive and will not destroy them in the long haul. One of the minor things some parents bring to us about is their children not helping out at home. We appreciate these confessions because we will then know what issues should be discussed with the youth in a covert manner. Most issues like these are easily resolved.

Cleaning things up around the house should not be hard. Division of labor should always be practiced the moment the youngsters are able. House chores should not all be that hard. Sooner or later when the children got used to it, it would not feel as much of a burden to them. We should know, we have seen a handful of issues resolved in no time.

Incidentally, if you are looking for a Salt Lake City Concrete contractor, make sure to visit saltlakeconcrete.org. Beautifying decks, patios, et. al are their all time specialty. They also do accent custom coatings as their name suggests, fully backed with a five year warranty. If you are anywhere in Utah, make sure to contact them for quality service.

The Youth of Today and the "Emo" Phenomenon

Posted by Jeff | Friday, April 24, 2009

There are so many issues that young people are facing today. The most persistent of which that has been going around for some time, locally, is this “emo” phenomenon. A handful of parents have come to us confessing of some weird attitudes their kids have had since they jumped into emo. It is fairly easy to spot an “emo.” Choice of fashion is mostly black, they sport bangs that almost cover the eyes and they go into their solitary place most days.

Suicide can be pointed to this “emo” phenomenon. This type of lifestyle encourages youngsters to seek into themselves, listen to “emo” songs, which translates to “sentimental.” Then they go into deep emotional state of dwelling into everything that could possibly be wrong with their lives towards depression and the most horrible thing that a parent would have to go through is when a child commits suicide.

This subject is a dynamic one and deserves another post altogether. But if you are a parent and you suspect anything at all, make sure to talk this out with your child. Report Callers if you have to. For all we know there might even be callers that your child has been entertaining that influences him or her into this kind of lifestyle. CallerWiki.net exposes who is behind calls that are unwanted or worse, annoying ones. Be vigilant, our children are under attack and we should always be in the look out.

Here are some pictures from the ongoing Call of Duty Summer Youth Camp in Mt. Peniel, Capas, Tarlac. Camp started last Tuesday and will be done by mid day, Friday. More pictures will be uploaded in the coming days. Here are some taken from the auditorium where sessions are held.

Remodeling Lives

Posted by Jeff | Tuesday, April 21, 2009

Whenever the group Breaking Point Foundation goes to each school, we equip ourselves to be ready for whatever it is that we are purposed to do. One of the many things that we have to keep in mind that we will be dealing with various sets of kids with different sets of values picked up from their respective families. But really, we have come to share with them the good news and that is like spiritual remodeling.

When a home is set for remodeling, layout and plans are made. The dynamics of dealing with a person is far more profound than dealing with home modeling projects. But incidentally, Seattle Remodeling will give you the best quality job, if you are within Seattle. Home improvements are usually done by those who would rather spent a portion of the amount rather than buying a brand new house. Some also make use of remodeling to be able raise the value of their homes that they want to resell.

The value of the lives of those precious souls that we reach out to, are far more than any house, remodeled or not. This is why we are dedicated to follow up all those who made professions of faith and lead them to a youth ministry where their questions will be answered.

A handful of young people who came to know Christ from Breaking Point Foundation programs that were done in their school are joining this year's Call of Duty (World at War) Summer Youth Camp in Mt. Peniel, Capas, Tarlac.

We are excited that some of them are already in the leadership team of our church and share the burden of Breaking Point Foundation's cause. We will be posting pictures in the coming weeks of the camp's highlights.

Remodeled Homes

Posted by Jeff | Sunday, April 19, 2009

Most of the students we come across with during our Breaking Point Programs wish for one thing, that is having their own house in the future. This is what motivates them not to drop out. Very often a lot are even not expected to finish high school by even the teachers themselves and statistics show that a great number of students actually do drop out before they graduate.

But for those who choose to continue on, they and work towards their dream of helping their parents and later even acquire their very own place. Owning a brand new home can be a challenge these days. But for those who already have their own place, they might want to consider looking into Kansas City Remodeling.

Regardless of what kind of remodeling you would want your house to have. It could just be the kitchen or adding in a few rooms. It is important to be able to find a good contractor for this kind of project. It is a fact that all homes need repair at one point or another. Roofs have to be maintained to make sure there will be no leaks when it rains. It is also good to get a house remodeled to up its value, if ever you decide to sell it later.

Young people who are given the proper guidance can do well for their own future. Especially in making the right decisions about the college degree they should take and eventually the career path they most follow. Youth counselors and guidance counseling offices in schools are the ones responsible for giving this kind of guidance to students. But, it must be noted that they are not the ones primarily responsible for this.

Parents are the ones who are primarily responsible for guiding their child who is graduating in high school. I know of a student who was given this proper guidance and made the decision to take up Mechanical Engineering. He pursued a career like the one in Dallas HVAC-Air-Conditioning and made it good. He was involved in the local market but was able to save up to invest in his own house and car.

Since the parents supposedly know their child more than their teachers and guidance counselors, they should be the ones motivating their child into making the right decision. Plus, the motivation that parents can give is incomparable to what other people (teachers, guidance counselors and friends) can provide.

Breaking Point’s parent-teen communication workshops can help in bridging gaps between a parent and their teen-age son or daughter. Visit www.abusepreventionteam.org for more information about this program.

Positive Approach to Prevention

Posted by Jeff | Thursday, April 16, 2009

Breaking Point Foundation is committed to addressing the four major issues that youth face. These are peer pressure, attitude, self-esteem and relationships/ sex. Our organization approaches these topics in a positive way. Take for example the topic of relationships.

Breaking Point Foundation has a program entitled “Next Time I Fall In Love” which deals about responsible relationships. Using skits, stories, and letters from young people, the concept of the emotional protection of one's self and others is presented. The alternative of sexual abstinence as an adolescent is presented. The classroom interaction workshops involve interaction with students that reviews the presentation, presents the need for proper emotional growth and commitment in order to have happy and healthy relationships.

Although Breaking Point’s programs are all preventive, we also provide assistance to those who have been victims and help in enforcing the law. We know of a link that can help parents Track Sex Offenders. The url is TrackSexOffenders.net. It is a web site that can help prevent abuse by aiding in identifying sex offenders and where they are located.

Breaking Point believes in rehabilitation of past offenders but also places importance in the prevention of abuse cases so our organization does not advocate condemnation and judgmental treatment to past offenders.

Dreaming of a New Home?

Posted by Jeff | Wednesday, April 15, 2009

Getting a new house is something that is very exciting. Many students dream of eventually owning their own house. I have even met some who have detailed dreams about the house that they want to own. Some, who take up degree programs related to construction, even dream of designing their own house.

But we must realize that sometimes funds are not that available for a person to buy a brand new home. There are times when one has to accept that purchasing a pre-owned house is an option. It doesn’t mean that the dream of getting a brand new home isn’t possible anymore. The house bought can still look good as new.
Home owners can utilize services offered by companies who do Austin Remodeling, for those based in Austin, Texas or other contractors based in other locations. It really depends on the quality of the work that a company can provide.

AustinRemodeling.org is a type of company that can deliver good and quality work. Home owners can be assured of great service and competent workers as they get a portion of their house renovated or as they get overall home remodeling done. Visit this company’s web site and see the other services they offer.

This Monday, the advanced team for the summer youth camp entitled “Call of Duty: World at War” (Ephesians 6:1-20) will be making its way to Mt. Peniel Camp Site in Capas, Tarlac. The team, which is composed of members of different committees (music committee, registration committee, dorms, committee, program committee, sports committee, multimedia committee, food committee, backdrop and design committee) of about 50 will be travelling with equipment.

If they were traveling in Dallas, Texas, they would have acquired the services of Dallas Movers but since this is the Philippines, they would have to make do with what’s available. It is a good thing that since the group has been doing this for many years now and have conducted camp at Mt. Peniel for the past three years, they have seen which equipment took up most of the space in the trucks they use.

This year, the backdrop and design committee has made adjustments to the materials they use for the back drop and will significantly make available a lot of space in our transportation. They will be using the same vehicles used the past years , thanks to their owners who are generous enough to lend their vehicles for the organization’s use.

For individuals, families, companies and organizations based in Dallas, Texas who are looking for movers in Dallas, as I have mentioned above, DallasMover.biz is a moving company that claims to provide unrivaled service to their customers. They provide quality service and ow discount rates with offices in Dallas, Austin, Fort Worth and Houston. They can give you free estimates and guaranteed written quotes and for local moves, free use of their boxes. This moving company also provides other services to lessen the load for those who are moving. Visit their site now if you are looking for movers in your area in Texas.

Since Breaking Point Foundation’s establishment here in the Philippines in 2001, with the blessings of The Breaking Point Foundation in the US, it has gone to hundreds of high schools all over the country to present its unique drug prevention program.

Although officially, Breaking Point Foundation Philippines has not officially registered in the Securities and Exchange Commission but operates under the organization of Sumulong Baptist Church’s ministry, it is the intention of Breaking Point to operate independently.

Its director, Jeffrey Aspacio, has been planning about establishing it independently and raising funds for it locally and abroad. In fact, he plans on seeking help from his in-laws in Houston, Texas and friends in California for this endeavor. He might have to get the help of Houston Movers if he would be spending quite some time in the Houston, Texas. Like my in-laws in Texas, when they purchased their homes in Houston, they needed services of a moving company in Houston. This company, HoustonTXMover.org, should have been the one they contacted. They are so unbiased in the service they offer that they even offer tips on how to choose and investigate on a moving company. Their service, as their website says is unrivaled and they have provided quality service to thousands of customers in Texas.

But, going back to Breaking Point, the goal is to be able to have enough funds for the organization so the financial requirements for starting an NGO in the Philippines will be met. This will then move the organization towards its goal to become independent. Independence, on the other hand, does not mean that it will also cease working with the organizations it works with currently. It just intends to keep the integrity of Breaking Point as a substance and drug abuse prevention organization.

Today, there were developments in our outreach efforts through Breaking Point as five out of the nine high schools in Makati responded positively to out invitation for our 2009 summer youth camp entitled "Call of Duty: World at War" (Ephesians 6:1-20).

A few months ago, Breaking Point director, Jeffrey Aspacio, was able to join a meeting of the Federation of Supreme Student Governments of Makati City (FESSGOM) which is composed of Supreme Student Government (SSG) advisers of the nine high schools in Makati, namely, Bangkal High School, Benigno Aquino National High School, Fort Bonifacio High School, Gen. Pio del Pilar National High School, Makati High School, Makati Science High School, Pitogo High School, San Antonio High School and San Isidro High School.

Through Breaking Point's coordination with JIVE Youth Ministry, five high schools expressed interest in sending their incoming SSG officers to our summer youth camp on April 21-24, 2009. Makati Science High School was the only one who has confirmed that they can't send delegates as the camp schedule was in conflict with their UPCAT review schedule.

Reaching the Anime Generation

Posted by Jeff | Thursday, April 09, 2009

Anime, the Japanese word for animation or more popularly known around the world as Japanese animation is extremely well known not only in Japan but in the rest of the world. This has grown in popularity among high school students that small youth communities, cliques and peers are among youth interested anime.

Last year, in our summer youth camp, we incorporated the use of manga or Japanese comics from Bible characters in the manga Bible. Yes, there is a manga Bible. It is an illustrated Bible using the genre of the manga.

The use of this genre certainly reaches a particular group of young people and they are the ones who are appreciative and have the liking for anime and manga. There is even an online community for anime lovers. AnimeChatCity.com is that site and they have a service like an Anime Chat Room where different anime fans can register and create an account and chat with other people who share the same interest with them.

Many young people enjoy this kind of communities as they can meet new friends from different parts of the world, yet share things that are common to them. Utilizing this genre in youth ministries is a great strategy to capture the attention of anime fans.

It's another season for vacation for many high school students and Breaking Point Foundation is cooking up another summer youth camp, in cooperation with Camp Kabataan. The theme for this year's summer youth camp is "Call of Duty: World at War" (Ephesians 6: 1-20) and it will be held on April 21-24, 2009 at Mt. Peniel Camp Site, Capas, Tarlac.

Camp fee is again subsidized by local and international supporters so the cost is down to P400 from P1,550 and is inclusive of air conditioned bus transportation to and from the camp site, three-days and three-night food and accommodations and training materials.

When Breaking Point Foundation Philippines was officially established here in the country in January of 2001, the immediate plan was to have it registered at the Securities and Exchange Commission as a foundation affiliated with the Breaking Point Foundation in the U.S.

But due to uncontrollable circumstances, this did not push through as the founder of the organization in the U.S. passed away and he was the only person the Philippines director dealt with regarding this topic.

Fortunately, the work of Breaking Point Foundation Philippines continued. The organization went to different high schools in Metro Manila and in the province and continued to present its drug abuse prevention program.

Eventually, the organization tapped the internet and established an online presence through a blog. As time passed, Breaking Point was able to purchase its own domain (abusepreventionteam.org) and got its web site hosting.

For similar organizations who want to start their own website, you can visit webhostinggeeks.com where you can compare different web hosting services and select the best service that will fit your organization and web site’s needs. The way the comparison is laid out on their site, organizations like Breaking Point Foundation Philippines won’t have a hard time finding what they need.

Last night, the director of Breaking Point Foundation Philippines, Jeffrey C. Aspacio, had the rare opportunity to introduce himself to the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) Director General/Senior Undersecretary Dionisio R. Santiago. This was done over dinner event organized by Yehey and the office of DPWH Secretary Hermogenes Ebdane Jr. through Attorney Conti.

Recently I heard in the news that the number job opportunities, both local and abroad, given by employers to a certain online job search service has gone down due to the financial crisis. This is really bad news to many job seekers. But the spokesperson of the online job search service said that employers are probably just being cautious but their company expects that more job opportunities will come in the next few months.

Speaking of job opportunities, during a recent bloggers event, in a conversation I had with another blogger, I learned that for those who are into writing, there are many job opportunities abroad and local. Freelance writing jobs abound in the internet, and in fact, my blogger friend mentioned how someone she knows earns big time from writing a Custom Essay, web content, e-books, a Dissertation, term papers, etc. So, I thought I would consider doing freelance writing, too.

So this past few days, I have been visiting sites that have lists of jobs and last night, I sent my first e-mail to an employer inquiring about the freelance, part-time writing job being offered. I just tried it out because telecommuting was allowed. There were some jobs, though, that seem too much for me. I don’t think I can handle writing 8 to 10 600-word articles per day. Maybe I would be more comfortable starting out with about 4 to 5 250-word articles and right now, that is what I’m in search of.

One idea thought of was to apply at those sites that offer Buy Essay services, editing or proof reading. A website where a student or a professional can buy original and uniquely written work, whether it’s an article, an admission essay, resume, web content, assignments, term papers, a report, a research and even a database. But since I am just an amateur writer, I am really not sure if I can handle working for that type of company.

I am just hoping that my wife and I would come across a freelance job opportunity from a local or international employer directly. Because with that, rates would be more reasonable compared to having a third party slash off a big part of the employer’s payment before it gets to us. And I’m sure that the competition is tight in this arena but I believe in a big God who can provide this job if it is really meant for us.

As an organization that deals with young people, mostly highs school students and youth from different youth ministries, we have attended a lot of youth programs, services and fellowships and a common thing that we see during these programs is the importance given to the components in their programs. They utilize icebreaker games or any crowd breaker activity to start of their program. This is especially helpful because it breaks the ice and creates excitement and laughter. It gets the young people’s attention.

The use of group games in the middle of the program also is something that we’ve observed as vital. This forces or, should we say, facilitates interaction among young people. Teenagers love to meet new friends, that’s why in the internet, most of the social networks in the Philippines have members who are teenagers. The use of group activities touch this natural need of young people.

When creating programs for youth camps, youth services, fellowships or even just a youth Bible study group, you can visit IceBreakerGames.net. This is an online resource for youth groups, youth ministries and even businesses that need some activities for their meetings. You can get ideas from this site however small or big your group is.

Hip and Cool Frames for Students

Posted by Jeff | Wednesday, February 25, 2009

In the many times that we have visited schools all over the metro and even in the provinces, we cannot help but notice that number of students who are wearing eyeglasses. In some public schools, there are even students who are not able to get their glasses upgraded for so many years, despite the need to change grades for their lenses. The primary reason is the lack of budget. The cheapest kind of glasses cost more than $20.

Incidentally, I am not surprised why even New York Times has something to say about Zenni Optical. Their recent article entitled “Seeing Straight without Breaking Bank,” gives us all a straightforward answer to the rather nagging cost of optical frames in the market. We are in the hard times and even before there was an admission of recession worldwide, this third world country has always struggled even in this. It is just so neat to learn about Zenni Optical being able to provide quality lenses that do not have to be pricey.

If you think that with this kind of package must come a set of boring frames, think again. Look at this hip and cool frames, for example. This is sure to be a hit to students and even young professionals and the good news is, it doesn’t have to hurt your pocket.

This shot was taken after the Breaking Point presentation program in Gen. Pio del Pilar High School in Makati City last June 20, 2008. Three of the girls who are in uniform are part of the student body of that school and have since attended our youth services in church. The Breaking Point volunteers from the faithful ones who have always made themselves available for Breaking Point outreach programs that we conduct through the years.
